Still sitting at 96 and gray out there — feels like the city forgot it's September. I cut through Printer's Alley this week for the first time in a while and remembered it doesn't even wake up until 6 p.m., which might be the most Nashville thing about it. Also on deck: the Titans play their last season ever in the current Nissan Stadium starting Sunday, and there's a free lunchtime show Friday most of this city has no idea exists.

Some of the bars there don't pour a drink before 9. It's one block off Broadway with none of the crowds: a burlesque show with an 11 p.m. curtain, a $20 cash-only cover, and a hot dog window that only runs midnight hours. We mapped the whole alley.

The General Jackson Showboat

A 300-foot paddlewheeler that's been cruising the Cumberland since 1985 — about 7 miles down toward downtown and back, past Nissan Stadium. Dinner, the cruise, and a live show in the two-story Victorian Theater run about $100 a head. Midday and evening sailings both run regularly.
